24guesthouse Myeongdong Avenue Review
Overall Rating: ★★★★☆
Booked my stay at 24guesthouse Myeongdong Avenue via Agoda.com. Please note that there are multiple 24guesthouse listed at Agoda, this one is Myeongdong Avenue.

You can easily reach the guesthouse from
Incheon airport via the airport bus 6015. Get down at Namdaemun market bus
stop, take the underpass to the other side of the street (marker is the CU
convenience store) and you’re there. Likewise, the bus stop for the airport bus
going back to Incheon airport is a few meters away (same side, no need to take
the underpass) which makes it very convenient, no need switching trains.
Talking about location, if you will do some serious
shopping, then you’re book the right place. You’re walking distance from 2 of
the major shopping markets in Seoul, Namdaemun and Myeongdong.

I wouldn’t mark this a 5 since the MRT stations and city bus
stops are a little far. Still walking distance but still would take 5 minutes
or more (depending on your pace). Nearest MRT stations are City Hall (closest)
and Myeongdong.
Attractions: ★★★☆☆
Nearest attraction and walking distance is the Sungnyemun
gate. Other attractions are somehow near, Deoksugung palace is the same
distance as the City Hall MRT station. Farther away is Gyeongbokgung palace
(this is walkable probably if it’s a nice day, cool weather and with the right
shoes). You can take the bus at City Hall station and get down at Gyeongbukgung
palace bus stop.

Dining: ★★★★☆
There are options for dining around the guesthouse. On the building itself you have a restaurant downstairs and the surrounding area. There’s also CU convenience store at the corner for snacks and other essentials. For
people who can’t survive without coffee, you have Hanok Café, Ediya Coffee and
Holly’s Coffee for that quick perk me up.

Facilities/Amenities: ★★★☆☆
Not much here, bare essentials. You
have a rooftop patio/deck which is perfect for hanging out on cool nights.
During our stay though the patio wasn’t really well kept (like there’s where
they throw their garbage). Breakfast was free, choice and cornflakes (sugar
frosted and regular), bread (choice of peanut butter and jam as spread) and
there’s coffee and tea as well. You can rent a portable wifi egg (as they call
it) for KRW 5,000.

Rooms: ★★★☆☆
I booked the standard double (good for 2 people) and
I must say that the room is tight. Good thing I requested a room with a window
and we got one with a nice view of the street. The other rooms did have a
window but it was a small window and had no view so if you’re a little
claustrophobic, this may not work for you). The room is tight especially that
we have 2 checked in luggage’s with us, definitely don’t have enough space to
move around. The bathroom was equally tight, it’s like a powder room where you
can shower in. Like seriously, I’m not tall but when I sit on the bathroom, my
knees can already touch the frosted glass(yes frosted glass so if you’re
sharing the room with someone, awkward). The space between the door and the
sink which is not enough space to move around is your shower area. Also, bring
a towel since the towels provided aren’t really bath towels but more of a big
face towel (can’t even wrap it around my waits to cover myself up, again if
you’re sharing the room with someone, awkward). Positives was that you have a
rack for your coat, hat, scarf etc. you have a mini fridge as well. Body wash
and shampoo are provided, so better bring your toothbrush. Another plus was
that the floors are heated which was a relief especially during winter (just
wished the floor in the bathroom was also heated).
I'm marking this as a 3 because this is somehow what I expected from the previous reviews I read at Agoda. Plus for the price, I wouldn't really expect much from it.
Staff: ★★★★☆
To be honest, for the duration of my 5 day stay, I
only saw 1 person and that was Mr. Kim. And it seemed like he really was the
only one running the place. When we arrived there, no one was at the reception
area and we only met him like after 20 – 30 minutes when he went up because he
was busy cleaning rooms. And it took another 30 minutes or more for us to be
checked in because he was busy cleaning, etc. In all fairness, he is very nice
and accommodating. Can speak English (not that fluent) but is always eager to
help and explain/provide info/give directions.
